Science books for a second grader?
I am a physicist and a good friend of mine has a seven year old (2nd grade) who is really interested in planets and stars. She also asks me about Physics and Einstein and seems really interested.(i am also a girl and mommy is gone. So I know that has something to do with it) My parents bought me Isaac Asimovs great space mysteries when I was nine and it was my absolute favorite book ever.
I am taking her to a planetarium tomorrow. I want to get her some books for Christmas because I think she would love it. Does anyone have any suggestions for space books a seven year old could read?
I don't have kids of my own so Im a bit clueless on age appropriatenes. I went to Barnes and Noble but even in the kids section there seemed to be such a range of levels I was completely overwhelmed.
Not knowing where you are this is hard. I suggest you access the grade level books through a school website, usually they are posted on the 'state' website under 'frameworks' or curriculum.
If that doesn't help, there are websites that can give you lists of recommended books by grade levels, search using "2nd grade + science books", there were so many I could not look at all. Skim through each to find topics of interest, get ISBN numbers and check with book store or order on line, I use Amazon.com a lot for my resources.
